## Why ContextStory Exists

Every CRM I tried wanted me to change how I work. Too much configuration, too much cost, and too focused on pipelines instead of people.

So I built my own. The first version worked beautifully until the AI bills arrived. Every personalized email, every lead summary, every follow-up burned tokens so fast it felt like the AI companies would end up making more than I would.

That is when I added a local LLM running on your device. Private by design, fast, and without the per-token costs that sink most AI tools at scale. That is how ContextStory was born.

## Architecture

ContextStory uses a small, powerful AI model (Qwen 2.5 3B) that runs directly in your browser via WebLLM. This on-device model handles everyday tasks like drafting follow-ups, summarizing notes, and personalizing outreach. Your contacts and conversations never leave your device for these operations.

When premium reasoning is needed, cloud AI (Anthropic Claude) is available as an opt-in feature. This hybrid architecture means the majority of AI usage costs nothing beyond your subscription, keeping pricing predictable even as you scale your outreach.

The on-device model downloads once (about 1.5 GB) and caches in your browser. After the first load, it is ready in seconds on subsequent visits. All style profiles and voice training data are stored locally in IndexedDB.

## FAQ

**Does the AI work without internet?**
Yes. Once the on-device model is downloaded and cached, it runs entirely in your browser. You can draft follow-ups, summarize notes, and personalize outreach offline. Internet is only needed for the initial model download and for opt-in cloud AI features.

**How big is the AI model?**
The on-device model is approximately 1.5 GB. It downloads once and caches in your browser's storage. Subsequent visits load it from cache in about 10-15 seconds.

**What devices are supported?**
ContextStory targets desktop browsers first (Chrome, Edge, Firefox with WebGPU support). The on-device AI requires a modern browser with WebGPU. Mobile browser support is planned for a future release.

**Is my data sent to the cloud?**
Not by default. The on-device AI processes everything locally. Cloud AI is only used when you explicitly opt in for premium features. Your contacts, conversations, and voice profiles stay on your device.

**What happens if I cancel?**
Your data stays on your device. You can export it any time. The on-device AI model remains cached in your browser.

**How is this different from HubSpot, Dex, or Cloze?**
Traditional CRMs are built for pipelines and deal tracking. Personal CRMs like Dex and Cloze are lighter but still charge per-token for AI features or lack AI entirely. ContextStory runs AI on your device, so personalization is private, fast, and included in your subscription without runaway costs.
